C.J., Alan, George, the bros.

Tending sugar lines in soft snow

Mending backs after go go go

And keep going

125 miles--pounding in the snow

Home to the sweet relief of sharons stew

And the fine laughter of 35 years brew

Vermont closes round my memory like a quiet winter scene
